Start a practice

Practice is where you talk with Uyen. The title shows your practice language, for example Practice Spanish. The badge under it shows your topic.

Talk

1. Open the Practice tab.
2. Tap the orb to start. Uyen says hello and asks a question.
3. Answer out loud.
4. Tap the orb again to stop. The clock stops when you stop.

The header shows how many minutes you have left and how many you used in this practice.

The controls around the orb

• New: start a new conversation.
• 1×: speech speed.
• Beginner: difficulty.
• 20s: the wait before the next question.
• Speaker On: speaker or earpiece.
• Voice: turn Uyen's voice on or off.
• Mute: stop sending your microphone.
• Assist: get a simpler question and a reply to try. See Get help when you are stuck.

Read and type

• Each You and Uyen line shows in the chat. A translation in your Current language shows under it. You can turn translations off in Settings.
• Tap an underlined word to look it up or mark it. See Track your words.
• To type, write in Type a reply… and select Send.

Start a new conversation

1. Tap New.
2. On New conversation, select Reset.

Uyen clears the chat and says hello again.

Next question

After a short exchange ends, the banner shows Next question in and a countdown. Tap the countdown to go on now, or say "Next". To change the wait, see Adjust speed, difficulty, and wait.
